I think Republicans want authoritarianism any way they can get it, and ideological consistency is not a priority for them.

It would just be instant validation of the power women hold.
This is the most gendered/ sexist view I have: women, across all age groups, are more responsible then men.
It might be because culture, it might be because whatever. But generally speaking, women of all ages hold their shit together (make payments on time, go to the doctor, finish the paper work, register to vote, etc…) at a higher rate then men. Young men in the age group of 14-24 are particularly terrible in this regard.
If women have a woman as an option, and the premise that women can take this seat of power, they’ll break hard in that direction. Might be a conservative piece of shit like Thatcher, but it will be a very long time for men to catch up once this dam breaks. I expect both sides to double down on this strategy if it works.
If women take down Trump here, its the last time we have a male president for a very, very long time.
Ey bruh, I’m digging through my old coat pockets for lose dime-bags of hopium too.
Yeah ok. So what data do you have to back that up? Or is it just how you feel?
Keep in mind, Trump won in both 20’ and 16’ (53%, 55%).
Thats interesting. What makes you think that?
I mean, apparently going along with the donor class is more important than winning the election.
Harris was on track to end up at around +4, +5, +6 if she would have been able to follow through on the momentum she gathered going into the convention. She took all that good will and threw it in the trash to spur Muslism voters and anti-war voters, then went on to put Liz-FUCKING-Cheney on stage.
I can tell you the exact moment Harris started to lose this election and it was right here:
Ruwa Romman explains what happened at the DNC
It was the moment Jeff Duncan, a pro-abortion Republican, got the stage instead of a Palestinian.
Its coming down to a hail mary play.
Maybe if she did an Israel/ Gaza pivot, like tonight/ tomorrow AM, she could get enough back on the board to at least keep MI and WI and PA.
Its funny right, because her first point is valid, but she’ doesn’t address the fact that there was a literally ARMY of media and online sycophants defending Joe Biden staying in the race. That wall of cowards is actually what prevented us from having a real primary, or getting Biden to step down, when even going back to 2023, he had almost no chance of winning the race.
Its also telling that there was no mention of Harris’s Gaza position. Her disdain for Muslim/ Arab voters. Obama’s condesension towards black male voters. Harris’s clear step to the right and adopting of neo-conservatives into the campaign. The refusal at the DNC to give a Gazan a microphone and allow them to be a part of the party. It should be pretty obvious to most people right now why Harris is struggling (this should not be a close race), and no, its not because she picked Waltz as a VP.
The fuck are we gonna do at this point. The only possible saving grace is a literal tsunami of women voters. Harris really needed to be sweeping/ taking at least 5-7 of the swing states, to keep this thing out of the hands of the supreme court. That seems like an impossibility at this point.
Every time I read this story, I keep thinking about those matter diagrams:
Idk. I posted this piece from Medhi where he interviews Micheal Moore, which if you want to get a read on MI, thats your guy.
https://lemmy.world/post/21487386
The consensus I got from those two is that MI is lost for Harris since she didn’t/ isn’t going to pivot. I know we’re seeing other data on women voters, but like, I don’t see a path to the WH without Michigan for Harris. I just can’t imagine how she could lose MI, but keep WI and PA, AND THEN ALSO pick up NC or GA or some other sunbelt state.
Its just very very difficult for me to imaging losing MI but picking up somewhere else. MI should be in the bag, incontestable.
I guess Harris/ Waltz couldn’t find the MI exit.
Bill Clinton did find the time to get to MI though. And he… oh no he…

It’s not conspiratorial at all.
No, what you are engaging in is anti-scientific, conspiratorial thinking. Gallup isn’t being gamed. Emerson isn’t being gamed. Times-Sienna isn’t being gamed.
And there is some funny business out there, but polling is still polling. There are real criticisms you can make here around methodology, or how when a metric becomes a target it ceases to be a metric, and maybe you could dig into issues like that. But to just be dismissive like this is, well, its anti-intellectual and anti-factual.
Cornel West has been such a disappointment. Like, he’s taken an entire career of almost always being on the right side of history and torched it.
Why did we get 5 reports on this one?
Good suggestion. Will try. Any idea how to profile which plug-in?
