I wasn’t aware they considered Zionist a negative term. I was under the impression they were proudly Zionist.

It’s trickling down folks. If Ubisoft can pocket 20% more profits for their games that means you the gamer will get 20% more updates for your favorite games. Really, that’s how it works.
For years if not decades Israeli hardliners have been using Nazi style rhetoric describing Palestinians as subhuman. It’d be a joke if it wasn’t so horrifying.
I don’t understand this article. Just last week the news here was that our prisons are overcrowded and we are considering leasing prison space in Eastern Europe. Maybe it’s only certain types of prisons that have shortages? Guess I should look into it a bit more.
I don’t like Harris very much. But the fact that half the country is willing to choose a deranged con artist over her is just beyond any rational thought.
And someone that has it permanently tattooed across the better part of the side of their body?
They said the same when the crypto hype came along. If AI dies off there will be other trends in computing that require cutting edge silicon. AI may or may not continue surging but hardware will be needed no matter what. NVIDIA is selling shovels, not panning for gold.
Not really all that strange. I’m not up on how this particular vote went but if 39% is in favor only 23% needs to abstain for the ‘against’ vote to be in the minority. Also counting by percentage of the total population is misleading and kind of dumb, we’re never going to have individual referenda for this type of decision making and thank god for that. That’s how we got Brexit.
Aside this form of Musk style “interesting 🤔” rhetoric really raises my hackles.
Killing the head of a terrorist organization won’t help if you don’t fix the underlying issues. He will be replaced in short order, usually by someone worse. Likewise this kind of political movement.
What the left in Europe (well in my country at least) still doesn’t understand is that they’re not going to fix this by lecturing the populist voters about how all their thoughts and ideas are wrong.
The register is a tech magazine, so the DIY/3D printed angle is relevant here. It’s also relevant because it would, at least to some degree, allow someone to build it themselves in places where perhaps the legality of self determination is questionable. The Register is not a place where you’ll normally find unnecessary clickbait headlines.
The way the title is worded (“a city where people are expected…”) implies this is referring to people that live in NY. I’d clarify it by saying something like “the only city of which people from the rest of the country are expected to know…”
The way things are going, if and when Trump exists there will be a crazier guy or gal replacing him. And we’ll keep circling the drain trying to make the other guy look stupid.
This is the level of our national discourse. And yeah the republicans started it and are worse in many ways. And maybe this sign is fake and just meant as a funny joke. But Jesus Christ we’re killing ourselves.
So it’s not a problem with AI. It’s just a problem for some mayfly companies that try to profit from the latest trend?
My lukewarm take is that all this hate on AI is really just hating on big companies trying to squeeze money out of some new development. AI (or rather LLMs) are not the problem.
All music is derivative. And if you think the best vocalists or musicians should be the most popular I may have some shocking news for you. The idea that American pop stars are authentic is pretty funny.
Yeah Korean pop idol culture has some extremely toxic elements to it, but so does American celebrity culture. I don’t get the feeling that’s what’s bothering you though.
Shutup still works but I wouldn’t trust it to prevent all telemetry. I wouldn’t trust Microsoft not to have other telemetry that’s not part of their services that can be turned off.
Just my 2 cents: I dual boot Windows and Linux. I only start up Windows when I want to play a game, use Linux Mint for everything else. Some games run perfectly fine under Linux (I play a lot of Factorio for example. No Mans Sky I’ve had no issues etc.) but some are just a pain. For those I switch to Windows and then immediately switch back when I’m done playing.
It’s not ideal but this way Windows has next to no information about me at least. And as times goes on I’m seeing more and more games running just fine under Linux. Maybe one day I’ll be able to drop Windows completely.
Unlikely. It won’t run optimally but it shouldn’t be the cause of crashes or bugs. If you’re not sure you can run a ram test (https://memtest.org/)
I looked at an “AAA” game maybe twice in give or take the last decade and both times have regretted it. Indie games are the bomb.
I mean yeah absolutely protest your bosses unethical behavior but don’t be surprised if they then kick you out. But that’s good, more media coverage for your stated goal.
