Of all the Palestinian prisoners released so far, 98 were detained without charge. 119 of the freed prisoners were children and the remaining 31 were women.

Why are you calling Israel’s prisoners “detainees”, and Hamas’ “hostages”? Reading some bias here…
Keep in mind I’m just reposting a CNN article and because the rules say “original title must be kept” I gotta keep it that way.
That said I agree that israel mostly kidnaps hostages from Palestine. They don’t “take prisoners”.
Hamas didn’t bother to try and to put theirs through a fake legal system like Israel did.
everyone stop everything, we got an Israeli legal expert here let’s hear him out!
They were held in “administrative detention” in a state run prison.
Detainee and prisoner are pretty standard terms for that context.
Without charges, you can say the same for the hamas hostages.

As you can read in the article half the Palestinians that were kidnapped were also not held hostage for rule of law. Rather israel wants to spread fear and terror in the west bank to support their illegal colonies.
They don’t have to, Israel is free to make bullshit reasons to capture and hold civilians from another country some as young as 14 without charges but most people would call them hostages at that point.

Why are you defending Hamas?

This is a joke to you?
Personally, I found your whataboutism to be repulsive. Hopefully that answers your question!
