I, too, was hoping for a more progressive candidate to replace Biden that would excite the base more. At this point we’ve got little to do but hope and throw as much support as we can behind her.

Oh, I’m not them - their words also aren’t beyond criticism.
I think you’ve got a right to criticize but your criticism isn’t, itself, beyond criticism. We’re on a pretty permissive forum where a lot of speech is allowed - I’d be deeply disappointed if a mod banned you for thinking this is a terrible idea (since your statement isn’t hateful or delivered in a hateful manner), but you certainly might get pushback.
The monte carlo paradox - my brain really refused to grok it for a long time.
I accidentally set a sexually explicit in message meant for my wife to my realtor - we were all standing together so I asked him to just delete the most recent message from me and he did so. I am much more careful now.
And in that case CAH is offering more money anyways. The hope is everyone realizes it’s dumb, the fallback is to do the clearly illegal shit better than them.
Yup, it certainly rakes in excessive profits - but the core concept of insurance isn’t a scam. It’s a good idea that gets abused in the American market.
Yea - they are on Musk’s side - they aren’t on Cards Against Humanity’s side… if precedent is set against CAH then it can weaponized against Musk… this whole thing is CAH trying to get a clear ruling that this bullshit is illegal.
There is zero chance that Musk’s bullshit would be shutdown if this didn’t draw more attention to it.
It’d probably be excellent to deny claims for anyone intending to rebuild instate and make it clear to those that do that they’re fucked.
Nah, in this case I blame the government for not having clearer regulations and a lack of informational programs.
Maybe all insurance should cover floods - but if we wanted that we’d need to regulate it… these policies were sold without flood insurance and it’s quite likely the sellers tried to aggressively upsell them to also get flood insurance.
Maybe the insurance should be government run but we need insurance - health insurance is a scam because it’s a fucking fake market, but housing insurance has a healthy market and insurers that reneg on their contract get taken to court and pursued by some truly asshole lawyers… you might argue that falsely denying a claim should come with higher penalties (and I’d agree) but half our government thinks regulations are the fucking devil.
Insurance is an inherently good idea - if we shuffled things up so that none of these people had any insurance then we’d have foreclosures and homelessness across the south right now - insurance companies are dicks but insurance is a good thing to have.
Fuck, if we tried it some asshole in Alberta would probably sneak in language that vaccinations are illegal and masks cause cancer. Let’s not open that can of worms when we’ve got batshit insane conservatives about to seize power.
Welp, at least I don’t have to switch off using feeds - that title scared me for a moment.

Technically you don’t even own disk games as, when the key server is shut down they are looked forever, and there is no legal way to get around that.
Depends on the tech they use - back in the day CD Keys just had to pass an algorithm check - nowadays some companies have a remote call to some registration server or rely on platform auth - but the easiest to implement is that old algorithm based approach that just checks it locally.
The secret final boss is Windows ME though…
If you want a chance to restore roe like access then vote for Harris - if you hate sex, women and justice vote for anyone else.
Truly a group of people who have dedicated their lives to making the world a better place.
A protest vote to a third party is actually a protest vote to whoever you prefer less. You’re essentially just removing yourself as a voter and making it more likely the person you like less is elected… we often say “third party is a vote for Trump” since most of lemmy is sane - but for a staunch conservative a vote for a third party is a vote for Harris.
I’d encourage everyone to vote regardless of your leaning - having low voter turnout allows more shitty shenanigans.
If he didn’t that’s up to him. If he felt embarrassed or uncomfortable by that message after refusing to delete the message that’s on him. I don’t really give a shit for my feelings - I just didn’t want to make him uncomfortable.
