I know what you mean, when I put to nazis and bigots, through various civil discourses, the most agreeable and cordial justifications for their systematic capture and extermination or deportation, to my great surprise, they never acquiesce to any form of intellectual exchange, regarding the legitimate concerns I raise.

Its the most bizzare thing because, just previously, they’d been more than happy to declare thus and so the most polite and reasonable argumentations supporting the very same thing for other people. More so, they many were lamenting how unfair it was for them to be denied the opportunity to pontificate on such matters, just a short time previously.

I’m sure you can only imagine my surprise when they did this, after their claims of wanting nothing more than “civil discourse.”

It cut to the heart of the cronyism in the US political system. Not that anyone else has less or more. We all have it to one extent or another. Its just, imagine if it was your country’s exact flavour of it laid bare and made public like that.

Not that surprising. Conspiracy theorists, imo, have a few key features

1. no matter how smart or stupid they might be, they always think they’re far smarter than they actually are

2. thinks everyone else is an idiot

3. easy to wind up

4. will take a position, no matter how little info about it they have access to, and will never, ever back down from it no matter how ridiculous where they ended up may be

5. finds real life too boring

I agree with the first part.

The second has some truth but peoples frustration isn’t that there is some immigration. More so, despite their claims, there isn’t a skill shortage of unskilled workers which should’ve always been self refuting. However, there is a shortage of companies who will pay people enough to do the work they want people to do.

When its framed like the above, it frames it as the choices are a) exactly as it is no or b) no migrant workers, even if that’s not what you meant to say.

I hope you agree, the problem isnt the tiny number of people coming here illegally. Its not great but it was largely a deliberately manufactured problem.

The real problem we have no is that every company, post brexit, can now claim that their refusal to pay market rate wages or the provide meaningful training to anyone is the same as a skill shortage. This, of course, means their only possible option these hard done by entrepreneurs can do is import someone in for far less than what they should be paying for that work to be done in the UK.

Before brexit, they had pay enough for someone to want to move from, say, Italy leaving their family and friends behind to start a new life. Now, they only have to offer more than the going rate of the global south.

The problems were seeing are directly a result of letting corporations run riot over our immigration policy for years which has lead to some serious problems.

Just to be clear, I don’t blame anyone for wanting to come here for a better life. I didn’t choose to be born here.

To me, its that being forced to do the same thing all day, nearly everyday, wears out your body and mind, long before their due date.

We just that we don’t get many reframed, visible representations of it. Especially ones this apparent.

For sure, it has to be real but I would say that believing you’ll spend eternity being tortured would make any apology very sincere.

Oh, the laffer curve is just fine. The issue is, the people who choose to missuse it deliberately or through utter ignorance never mention that the X value is about 90%. As I always say to those types whenever they bring it up:

“Theh all want to talk about the laffer curve, right up until you have to explain to them how hight the X value is. Then, as if by magic, they suddenly don’t want to talk about it anymore and never agreed with it in the first place.”

The real problem with economics, imo, is that they always presume inequality to not exist, in order to make the calculations work. The reason being that, if you accept that inequality exists and add it to the pot, as it were, the answer always comes out as “the problem is inequality.”

However, that doesn’t justify tax breaks for the rich or their rampant greed and exploitation. So, we pretend its non-existent and, tbf, in a wold with no inequality what so ever, where only the best rise to the top and anyone could be rich, if they worked for it and it wasn’t a closed shop, most of neoliberalism would be absolute genius.

Of course, the problem is that, in the real world, inequality not only exists but is the definining feature of our economy.

You’ll have to let me know what part of the bible says that because its not in any parts that I read.

While baptism itself is in the bible, baptism absolving sin is something made up centuries later, so that churches could have some of that old school shaman ritual stuff they didnt have any of.

More so, the only opposing view to the one above would be the Catholic one and their interpretation is problematic at best.

People really need to check the fine-print on that particular covenant.
