  • Unfortunately I didn’t enjoy the 1st season, just like other commenters here. A preliminary reason could be that the story is very different from the book, which is one of my most favourite sci-fi books ever. But even simply seeing this series as something different from the book, if found it too cheap: the characters are half-stereotypes, the events are what you’d expect, usual blood and sex to attract viewers…

Should go without saying, just my personal opinion and tastes. I’m happy that others enjoyed the series and I hope it’ll made them curious to read the books.

  • For those who loved Person of Interest: at the moment I’m watching Forever and it’s giving me similar feelings as Person of Interest did. It’s a bit of a vague statement, I know, but I can’t really put my finger on what or why. Just give it a try if you haven’t already. The background story is different, but many elements feel very similar.

Curious to know if anyone else see some similarities and can actually flesh them out concretely.

  • And it isn’t just a matter of numbers, but of content quality too. My impression is that those who are leaving Reddit for the fediverse alternatives right now are also those that create more meaningful and useful content. So the loss for Reddit is already much larger than the numbers tell.

This also connects with the strange way of reasoning about “making profit”, and with some comments I’ve read saying “did Reddit users expect a free lunch?”. The point is that the value of Reddit comes exclusively from the content, and the content was given for free to Reddit by the users. Reddit was having a free lunch too. It’d be funny if people started to say “You want me to post and create content on this platform? Well pay me then”.
