People are explaining the nuance to you and you’re not getting it, maybe it wasn’t an act.
Don’t deprive German consumers of Coca Cola they did nothing wrong
You are adding degrees of indirection that don’t apply, the playing dumb act is one thing but all you can say with your reasoning is they shouldn’t play in Afghanistan or China which people might agree with.
Nobody’s saying they shouldn’t play in Germany because Germany supports Israel.
granted, I should have given more thought to my hyperbolic hypothetical.
point being I dread to think what “lesser evil” we’re looking at when the time comes
let he who is without sin cast the first stone isn’t really about encouraging everyone to cast stones simultaneously and at will
I’m (truly) not sure if this reasoning applies to the people of Israel at large. To be fair, the same can increasingly be said of Americans who continue to support Republicans as they go mask off.

If there was a strong unified labor force we could use general strikes and other collective action to fight back. I don’t know why the American left isn’t trying to organize something like this.
if we’re imagining a better place why not go further? private ownership over collective production is the only way such gross amounts of wealth are possible.
A 100% tax bracket is fine and all, but why don’t we reimagine the economy so that individuals aren’t controlling so much of it? We built the infrastructure, we built the factories, we invented the machines and algorithms.
20 years ago it was Bush and the Cheneys that were so bad we would have been told to vote for anyone running Blue.
Can’t wait to vote for the Democratic candidate in 2048 based on the idea that they’ll only conscript first-born children into mandatory asteroid farming and have Barron Trump’s enforcement over Megahitler.
If we want to uphold the principle of international diplomacy and the summit represents a huge bloc of the world’s population then yes he really should. If Israel is hosting an event for dozens of countries he should. He’s not just visiting his buddy Putin or Netenyahu. He’s the main diplomat of the UN.
The UN is a diplomatic organization that represents the entire world and exists to provide non-violent outlets for issues between nations. Being present at BRICS, which is rapidly adding membership and represents a counter-bloc to Western oriented alliances like NATO and the G7 (which expelled Russia in 2014.) is part of that mission.
Guterres was at the G7 summit https://www.un.org/sg/en/content/sg/press-encounter/2023-05-21/secretary-generals-press-encounter-g7-summit
Why shouldn’t he be at a similar summit representing:
Combined, the BRICS members encompass about 30% of the world’s land surface and 45% of world population
The UN isn’t (rather: shouldn’t be) a Western organization. It’s a global organisation. His attendance there is a necessary part of his duties.
From the perspective of any nation on the receiving end of US aggression his participation at the G7 would have been seen as equally upsetting. You’re letting your bias in favor of Ukraine color your judgement.
Anarchists famously love Democrats enough to incorporate them into their graffiti
Read the second sentence in that comment slowly
I’m not commenting on the pager attack when I refer to “accused hamas guy” but I’ll leave it as an exercise to you to figure out why and how the pager strike might have led (and did lead) to civilian casualties.
Yes more precise than “was in a WhatsApp group with the cousin of a suspected Hamas member so the AI told us to bomb him at home with his children” but if that’s the bar…
Putting these valid points aside we’re also all just taking for granted that the software would have properly identified a human under the same circumstances… This could very easily have been a much more chilling outcome
Exactly! It’s an empty threat in isolation. Of course the real threat is that you’ll get embargoed or otherwise undergo economic violence as capitalist owned governments around the world try to make an example of you.
Generally though, capitalist fleeing just means less to take care of when we reclaim our freedom as workers, especially if you prefer non-violence
Being a run of the mill fascist (rather than those in power) is actually an incredibly submissive position, they just want strong daddies to take care of them and make the bad people go away. It takes courage to be a “snowflake liberal” by comparison
“the only thing they’re bringing to the table is money” is true of every single capitalist and every single private company.
We and our ancestors worked the land, built the machines, invented the innovations, increased our collective productivity, but a tiny fraction of people currently alive call dibs and lay claim to everything.
When we ask for dignity and the bare necessities of life, not what we’re owed but just what we need to survive, they throw tantrums and threaten to leave.
Let them leave, “capital flight” is only a problem if we care about capital. We workers produce and design and construct and deliver and maintain every single fucking thing, we are the economy. Let them leave.

out of the principle of charity I chalked it up to the type of person who fixates on the wrong thing but I suspect you’re right
