I think this is absolutely the correct interpretation of this. Shutting down the government because repubs don’t want to play ball weeks before an election is only likely to hurt their chances.

Because Republicans wish California would burn to the ground
That doesn’t apply to this situation or what you are saying at all.
It’s an interesting implication that there is no right to life.
Considering his rapidly deteriorating mental faculties and the fact that’s he’s surrounded himself with yesmen; he probably really believes that he did well in that debate.
I’m beginning to think that whoever wrote the history books might not be terribly fond of leftism
Good thing steel beams are pretty fucking strong. I’ve accidentally tried to destroy a couple with a forklift a couple times.

If this invasion into Kursk gets Ukraine a white peace, then it may be one of the best military gambits in modern history. There’s still a long way to go before that though. Putin has been incredibly stubborn in this war. That’s why this 3 day special military operation has lasted for 2.5 years. Slava Ukraini.
I like how your comment assumes women can’t exist on the internet
I know even less probably but I’m going to say yes and let you find out for me.
But you can also just block that instance.
That’s fair. I don’t think it’s really that the discourse is lower quality on the niche subjects but rather that it just doesn’t exist most of the time. One of the consequences of being an early adopter.
It’s so nice. I think it’s because we’re all early adopters.
I left reddit with the API changes. Obviously, Lemmy isn’t as good as reddit in many ways. It’s still young and is much, much less popular. There’s not a super niche community for everything like there is on Reddit. But the people on Lemmy are so much better. And the people on Reddit were honestly a pretty significant reason why I left too. The people here are just so much better to interact with most of the time. Glad you’re here.
It should really be chocked though
This person doesn’t eat the crust
There’s no way that’s a legitimate ruling. That judge had to have been bribed or threatened.
This passage from the article seems to support the idea that maybe there were underhanded dealings going on.
"Karle approved Jordan’s plea deal after telling him: “I hope you feel shame, I hope you feel remorse, and I hope you never ever hurt another child.”
While the judge reportedly said Jordan’s admitted actions left her with “no words”, she approved his plea agreement."
It matters very little if I or any of us have faith in the republican voter base and rather it matters if the Republican leadership thinks it could matter to a significant enough portion of their base that they should avoid a shutdown.
Also, I find the rest of your comment to be quite insightful. I do think most of the Republican leadership are still all in on Trump, however I wouldn’t be surprised if there some back up plans in the works.
