Whether pro-Israeli bots like it or not, numerous acts by IDF do fit perfectly into descriptions of the acts forbidden by the convention. Even if the case is eventually dismissed it will be on technical grounds such as “it’s actually a war crime not a genocide” not because “IDF did nothing wrong”.

Given the country’s past, they’re now so incredibly averse to anything that could even be vaguely construed as criticism of jewish identity and sovereignty (by the Israeli government) that they will bend over backwards to defend all sorts of nonsense.

        “You call that a genocide‽”

On a serious note, the amount of countries that have committed genocide is a staggering amount.

Link to the Wikipedia page. Just a fair warning on it, it’s really fucking depressing and really long.

It is troubling that so many major powers are inundated with individuals whose true loyalty is to Israel, not their own country or its people.

They do so out of loyalty to their country and its people, more specifically, to the economic and political interests of their country’s elites.

For this reason, he said, “we stand firmly against a political instrumentalization” of the Convention.

Which is exactly whats happening. And in the process its demeaning and devaluing the convention. Much like happens constantly in Lemmy WorldNews.

Israel’s six legal representatives asserted that the ICJ has no jurisdiction over the complaints brought by South Africa since they relate to the laws of armed conflict, not genocide; argued that “random” inflammatory comments of Israeli politicians did not reflect policy determined in the state bodies making war policy; and insisted that the widespread harm to Palestinian civilians during the war was a result of Hamas’s massive use of civilian infrastructure for military purposes, and not genocidal acts

It’s nice when sanity and reality rear their heads. That’s going to rial up the Hamas members and supporters here ON Lemmy.

Pointing out their genocidal actions make you a hamas supporter?

Also why would anyone be surprised that’s how Isreal explains their actions in the region? Of course they aren’t going to say they are doing it on purpose

I certainly hope Israel gets what it deserves. The level at which its citizens have corrupted the governments and economies of the world should justify a seizure of all their assets and dissolution of the State of Israel, with the land returned to arabs.

The world should demand, through threat of invasion, prosecution and capital punishment for all those who conducted or participated in the unlawful aggression against Palestine and the slaughter of its civilians.

While I do agree that what Israel is doing is getting into genocidal territory and that Israeli officials should pay for it, what you’re saying here sounds worryingly antisemitic, as in it’s scratching on the idea of “Jews controlling the world” and whatnot. Also, more ethnic cleansing wont resolve the problems there. There needs to be a humanitarian and political solution for ALL people living in the area.

This is a joke right? Arabs constantly fight among themselves all the time. They are just picking a common enemy in Israel but if they are gone they will go fucking themselves like they always have

No. If Palestine regains it’s territory, Arabic countries will just go back to Iran as their common enemy.

Most conflicts in the Arab world are civil wars, not many conflicts between two countries (compared to other regions).

economies of the world should justify a seizure of all their assets and dissolution of the State of Israel, with the land returned to arabs

Ah yes, the classic Israel 2.0 but with Arabs and Muslims this time.

See, this is why even though I am from an Arab country I don’t jump quick into up-voting supporters of the basic human rights of Palestinians and Arabs. You are corrupting what should be about the rights and livelihoods of millions by wishing the same injustice happening to millions others instead of vanishing.

Classic Jewish misdirection and bad-faith arguments. I never said anything about genocide, I demand appropriate punishment for war criminals.

Israel 2.0 with Arabs and Muslims.

Most Arabs are Muslims, Moishe. I simply advocate for returning the land to it’s rightful owners. Israel has made the case for dissolution all on its own, constantly instigating foreign conflicts for economic gain and murdering thousands of civilians.

Is anyone seriously surprised? The only country Germany has been more in love with is Russia, Putin’s Russia to be precise.
