Georgia State Representative Mesha Mainor of Atlanta switched parties from Democratic to Republican after being criticized for voting with the GOP on several occasions. She’ll be joining a majority GOP House, but resides in a heavily Democratic district, making her reelection prospects poor.
for anyone curious, this seems to basically be over private school vouchers and prosecutor oversight; she supports the former and not the latter, and is of course getting roasted because both of those positions suck. good riddance, to be honest.
Having worked in somewhat proximity to her, I can say that everyone already knew she was working for the Republicans, so it really wasn’t a surprise. In all likelihood, this is a gambit because she knew she would be primaried if she ran as a Democrat again (her positions were that obtuse).
Edit: Changes made to be more in line with Be(e)ing respectful of everyone.
Who the fuck are these people?!?
You have enough conviction in your beliefs to run for office, but you’re still undecided enough that you’re going to change to the ideologically opposite party?
Prob an erroneous assumption that it has anything to do with their actual beliefs, but for sake of argument…
