I like going to karaoke bars with my friends, but so many songs have problems:
- They’re fun for the first 2 verses and chorus, but then they keep going, or
- They include some really long instrumental break in the middle, where I just have to kinda tap dance
What are some karaoke songs that don’t have these problems? Looking for songs that are
- short: Below 4 min if possible. Maybe even below 3?
- no instrumental break
Thanks Lemmy!
Tequila.
I was also going to suggest that as a joke because it’s 95% instrumental break.
It’s 95% awkward dance solo! 🤣🤘🏼
Same with Brooklyn Recycles by Brooklyn Funk Essentials. All instrumental, except for “I support recycling”. :-D
Are you the guy in the Spiderman costume?
Blur - Song 2
Blitzkrieg Bop by The Ramones
2:12, people can join in, and the lyrics don’t really matter
Hey ho! Let’s go!
Huh nuh nuh nuh nuh nuh, Blitzkrieg Bop!
Anything by the Ramones
Mr. Roboto, Tainted Love (Soft Cell version), Mack the Knife, Melikalikimaka for Christmas season,
Tainted Love could totally work, thank you!
Mr. Roboto is over 5 min long, no?
@mulcahey it might depend on the edit. The album version is pretty long. Still, if you give some gusto, it’s generally a crowd pleaser.
If you don’t want to be allowed on the stage again: “The pope song” from Tim Minchin is a bit over 2 minutes and has an over 30 fucks/minute score. And it only has a 2 second instrumental break.
I fucking love it.
Considering how many karaoke DJs still carry around a binder full of CDs, I doubt this one is readily available.
El Sonidito by Hechizeros Band is always a good one.
Edit: If you really want to kill it at karaoke and nobody’s picked it, do I Want It That Way by Backstreet Boys. The whole room will sing along.
El Sonidito is a fantastic kareoke song for it’s absolute ridiculousness. Might as well add Chacarron to the mix.
Let the Bodies Hit the Floor by Drowning Pool
Sorry, I just always hated how short that song is compared to how great it actually sounds. It’s nonstop vocals for the most part, too. Might be something different for you to try.
Many Beatles songs are short. Yesterday’s not too hard.
Some Beatles songs are very hard, e.g. Oh! Darling.
On that note, Her Majesty.
The Song That Never Ends avoids the problem with the instrumental break.
You monster
Do one of the eminem skits, like the Ken Kaniff skit where it’s just sounds of someone sucking dick. It’s like a minute long, and nobody will ever invite you back out for Karaoke again. Problem solved.
Napalm Death - You Suffer
The shortest song I ever found at a karaoke place was You Suffer by Napalm Death. It’s 1.3 seconds long.
I remember seeing this song for the first time on a reddit thread like “You have to sing a complete song from memory, which song would you pick?”. That guy pulled a galaxy brain move.
Tequila by The Champs.
Convoy by C.W. McCall is my go-to “fine if I have to karaoke” song. Fairly short, no long instrumental breaks, it’s fun, and absolutely no one sees it coming.
I wanna be your friend, i fucking love that song but then again convoy is my all time favorite movie.
“They should make more movies out of country songs”.
[Earl, Joy, and Randy proceed to sing the chorus to Convoy]
Probably the greatest gag in My Name is Earl.
I would never have thought of that, but it would be awesome!
I’d like to be able to pull off “Classified” by C.W. McCall. Two and a half minutes of slightly melodic, high speed storytelling. I think Convoy would be more well known and far easier.
Fell in love with a girl - The White Stripes
Not the easiest song to sing, but it’s very short and no instrumental break, unless you count the “NAAH nah-nah-nah naaa NAAAH. NAAH nah-nah-nah NAAH naaah…” part.
