Hey y’all! Using data from my Google Doc, I’ve built a pre-alpha version a Buy It For Life wiki! Check it out!

    Amazing work.

One of the biggest issues I had with BI4L was how annoying US-Centric it was. I’m not sure how you can address this issue in the Wiki but you should be aware it does reek of American arrogance :)

I guess at a minimum maybe make some kind of tag or filter for the country?

Is there some intention to eventually open editing up to others? I assume you don’t want to maintain this kind of list to perpetuity.

I would love to maintain this kind of list in perpetuity!

Also, yes it is very US-Centric because my goal was the best thing that I can buy here. In the US. And to answer your question, it is open for others to edit it. It uses GitHub pages, so you can fork it and make your own. If you think it’s too US-Centric, you can fork it and make your own. Please do, we need more comprehensive guides like this!

    This is amazing, great work!
Due to lemmy.world’s current scaling issues, this post got lost in federation. Only finally showed up now because I found it over there and did a manual search here on sh.itjust.works to force it to sync the post.

Anyway, cool if I pin this to give it some more visibility?

I see you have some metal Maui Jim aviators, I have their Makoas and in general their non-rubberized Nylon frames with ST Glass lens are a great Buy for Life option for people who don’t like aviators. Mine look like they did when they were new.

    Love the list in general!
