I get a song stuck in my head and end up having to look up everyone who ever covered it. This one is one of the weirdest I’ve encountered.
Many old tv shows had lyrics, they used the musical version. Hawaii Five-O, Hogan’s Heroes, MASH, I Dream of Jeannie, I Love Lucy, The Dick Van Dyke Show, etc.
MASH
MASH had the theme song sung during the movie. Suicide is Painless is a classic.
And it was composed by Quincy Jones, who has earned a small mountain of awards for his music over the years. Not many TV shows get a theme as good as that one.
Here’s the studio version:
Yeah they’re: “Quiet down now. It is time to watch the show, yes it’s started, don’t be lickin’ me no mo’, matter 'fact could you get me a handiwiiiiiiipe?”
“The Streetbeater”
Correct. By Quincy Jones. But I had no idea there were lyrics!

great share!
What the heck. This rewrites a chunk of my childhood.
Also, the final note on the bass is a mistake, but they left it in.
You couldn’t take those sort of things out of live recordings back then.
I can’t remember… I can’t remember what is was…
Awesome!!! Love it.
